I will say one of the disconnects here is that the ultralib accounts are largely thirtysomething nerds writing for thirtysomething nerds, & assume this is a viable approach to politics, in a way left accounts followed by teenagers & college students would never.
basically every single one of those accounts specifically tells you to attend as many protests as you can and get involved in local government if possible

Part of the problem is that the Boomers always self-defined by their youth. There's a line in Thirtysomething, "the problem with our generation is we'll always be the kids". That's OK when you *are* thirtysomething, but it causes cognitive distress when you're seventysomething.
