#TiMidity++
Tonight will mark a turning point of *some* kind. Let it be against fascist abuse AND against liberal timidity. www.offmessage.net/p/2026-midte...
What We Should Hear From The Winners Tonight
Clear declarations about reckoning for the past, vigilance in the present, and deterrence for the future.

Interesting that Reeves and Starmer have spoken at same time. Presumably coordinated. Makes their timidity in office more perplexing however.

Another way of looking at their behaviour could be timidity - a profound fear of frightening the horses.

Jeffries should NOT be elected Speaker. His would be a reign of timidity, sycophancy, and mediocrity.

STATEMENT: #COP17Armenia put forth a clearer picture of the biodiversity crisis, but not the ambition to solve it. “Timidity will not save nature,” said WCS’s Susan Lieberman. bit.ly/3WYxg0D

The thesis is absurd because the Dems’ image problem is that they don’t deliver any of the things they promise, not that they overdo those things. Axios is counseling them to compound their timidity problem, not to fix it

this is malignant timidity
There's a difference between a blowout and a mandate. Confusing the two could tempt Democrats to overread the results and forget the serious credibility problem they still face heading into 2028.
Democrats could learn wrong message from a blowout victory
A big Election Night could mask the party's larger image problem.

The more offensive thing though isn't even this timidity or the inclination to appease, it's the attempt to just lie and say that this isn't what it is, and that if only Palestinians, Syrians, Lebanese etcetera laid down and died maybe Israel would stop. This is pathetic.

Defeat the tyrant with the power of timidity
I respect Sen. Schatz, but I 100% disagree with him here.

Even if we win the midterms, Democrats have far to go to win back the trust of working people. If Democrats don't understand that, we will sleepwalk into President Vance 2028.

No one in America thinks the status quo is working.

If you are American, learn from the UK: we threw out our lunatic right wingers only to put a Sensible Centrist in there, and his timidity made things much worse. This is the time to press the advantage. Prosecute the fuckers.

The next step is to NOT elect Jeffries and Schumer to leadership positions. They have failed to meet the moment at every opportunity. We can't squander our hard won victories on timidity and a lack of a vision.

I think of Lord Passfield when the coalition went off the gold standard in 1931. ‘No one told us we could do this’. Both timidity and also - to be kind - structure, in that Labour never gets to play on easy mode for complex reasons.

also think any claim it's 'not trying to be' Disco is almost wilfully blinkered. sometimes it is not (the good parts) but all too often it falls back into those rhythms almost out of timidity

If you combine that with extreme timidity about making any substantive promises, you get Albo.

It’s funny to contrast it with the dems’ relative timidity in 2009

Isn’t it high time to grow a pair and convert sanctioned assets into defensive weapons and other aid for Ukraine given the crimes against them? Do the criminals get to keep their palaces in Europe when Ukrainians are losing their lives and homes? Why the timidity?

She could not have been born gray. Her color, her color of brown, was an essential part of her, not an accident. Her anger, timidity, brashness, gentleness, all were elements of her mixed being, her mixed nature, dark and clear right through, like Baltic amber.

We are in serious danger of political paralysis (of the rabbit-in-headlights kind), in which John Healey's boring budget might be a manifestation: Can't be brave because of the ghost of Liz Truss's mini budget; and yet can't be timid because the situation demands more than timidity. So 'freeze'.

bask in your glory this evening, barely anyone called the general sentiment and polling timidity better that I saw

We can thank Merrick Abject Coward Garland's timidity in refusing to investigate the coup plotters
Once again, because we didn't severely punish the authoritarianism in November 2020-January 2021, we are going to see it all over again in November 2026-January 2027.

"Democracy is a system in which parties lose elections"

I hope so. Maybe all of the other woven wheat manufacturers & retailers will get over their timidity.

Labour at last coming round from their timidity about rejoining the EU. (and other things).
“Brexit has made the UK a poorer, weaker and less secure country” Yep!

The past 10 yrs, the Dem Sen caucus has been led by a moderate centrist, incapable of answering challenges of the Trump era. That we’ve allowed Trump to get so far is due, in part, to the timidity of his opposition. If Democrats gain the victory they seem to be on target for, it’s *despite* Chuck.

Congratulations on your lack of timidity! And on such an important topic too! Few among us can boast as much
