Members spent two days this week investigating the fabulous Oakwell Hall, Birstall, and trying to understand the stonework and the timberwork inside. Not sure that a consensus was reached - discussions are ongoing!

The plan is that the ground floor will be stone, and the upper floor will be half-timbered, so I added a timber frame with balsa wood and made a couple of windows as I went along, using car body repair mesh for the leading

It looks like a woodworking vice because of the flat jaws but the screw, pin and handle actually look like they might be from a leg vice. The two bottom bits are just to fasten it to a post, the punched piece looks like a bit of steel bracing used in timberwork

I'd go with the Vietnamese Strategic Technical Directorate & especially OPLAN 34 "Timberwork" which were the airborne operations. A 100% failure rate, where every single person dropped in was either captured or killed.

I spent some hours today following the waterfront around Plymouth as part of the South West Coast Path. It varied from the historic to the industrial to the derelict - worth a whole essay which I won't get around to writing. #SWCP
A row of shuttered storage units. Peeling paint on wood and concrete Crossing the River Plym. Small boats moored on 3 long pontoons. Blue sky with white clouds. Old buildings in Sutton Harbour. A two storey pub, a narrow white 4 storey building. Bright sunlight. A decaying wreck of a boat. All that's left are a few ribs sticking up and some broken timberwork covered in seaweed.
