I have a policy of rejecting any offers of work that say they want me to write for them because I am a trans writer. I could really use the money but I can't bear to tokenise myself in this way and I really think as a writing community we should prevent this from being normalised.

Any organisation that treats LGBT lives as objects to tokenise for “feel good” marketing and then trashes us as “too political” when our existence becomes inconvenient, does not belong at Pride. Queer and trans groups are doing the work of community building by organising various Prides. Join them!
This is why we need to start reclaiming Pride as a protest, not a big party funded by companies and multinationals whose pinkwashing and ‘allyship’ has always been transitory and conditional. Big fights lie ahead and, as a community, we need to get back to our roots of protest and activism.

if they don't exclude trans women from the category of 'female', they aren't TERFs. if they don't tokenise & condescend to SWers as they move to abolish SW, they aren't SWERFs.

I don't want to minimise how this is an ideologically driven policy targeting trans women as part of a broader project to drive them from societal participation.
And I don't want to tokenise intersex women / women with disorders of sexual development.
But they will be hit the hardest here.

That also simplified the editor - you didn’t have to tokenise the BASIC if you were typing the tokens on yourself. They fixed that later with the 128K. Still prefer the tokenised editor though.

also, now that i’ve mentioned that im trans, don’t tokenise me, dont make being trans something that defines me, im not ashamed to be trans, but at the end of the day im just a guy and wish to be treated as such. don’t treat me differently.
