I think because the two most charismatic Labour politicians in my lifetime (Tonies Blair and Benn) used the myth of Old Labour to describe what we now call “Corbynism”, a lot of people have lost the language to describe our new government, which actually IS Old Labour.
And refusing military action against Rhodesia for fear of British people refusing to take up arms against 'kith and kin'!
