Ciera used to walk around Old Sharlayan and attend classes completely nude, claiming a cultural exception to their modesty laws... until she was caught masturbating in public multiple times... 😅

Bittersweet. She left the Azim Steppe to find her birth home but hadn't succeeded. And it's rankled her that not only would she not see her own tribe, but she had to seek help from their enemies the Dotharl.

While I've toyed with the idea of AU Ciera becoming the matron of her birth tribe in Xak Tural, I think mainline Ciera will never truly settle down, continuing to wander all her life, eventually dying in her sleep in some random village she was passing through at the time.

Ciera's accent is a mix of Hein's and Erenville's English VA's, like a cross between Chinese & Icelandic (if you've ever heard Mongolians speaking English). She learned common during years of Garlean captivity, so she can speak it though her accent's a bit thick at times.

Ciera relaxes in the hammock of the Hunter's Camp wearing her modified Agoge furs and leathers, her Torgud paint still on, Veldian Axe resting to the side. She loves this region of Xak Tural, being similar in climate to the Nhaama Desert she grew up on, with the addition of beautiful gorges and rivers (not to mention the occasional ruin to explore). She spends much of her downtime in and around the Tinder Valley region, feeling very close to it, spiritually, like she's pulled there, or perhaps further north? She explores a bit more with each visit, rarely seeing other people, save the occasional Hhetsarro, which she gives a wide birth when she can. Thanks to the apparent hostility between the Hhetsarro and her birth tribe (which she has yet to fully track down) within these hinterlands between the northern forests and the Shaaloani grasslands, Moon Keepers are treated with open hostility. The only thing that keeps her from being immediately attacked is her use of Turali and Foreign garb, and keeping her horns covered when she's spotted, which trigger a fight every time. From what she has gleaned from more amiable travelers, the Northern Moon Tribes are goat-worshipers, and their leaders all wear goat's horns (though she suspects many or all aren't headdresses at all). She'll find out soon enough.

Ciera relunctantly leaves her adoptive Torgud family on the Azim Steppe to travel the world and find her birth parent's homeland. Little does she know the adventures that await her, and the harrowing years about the precede them. Ciera looks distraught but determined while walking away from a tribe of nudist Xaela, who are seeing her off. Three are waving, one's crying, and one stairs from a doorway. All are nude, the females covered in traditional white paint.

Image of the following text: Sadu, actually (at least at first) Ciera, being of the Torgud tribe, knows all too well about the attacks and raids the Dotharl has done against her people. Sadu's tribe have control of the only oasis on the way to Reunion, making it difficult for her tribe to bring their wares each year. After the Naadam when all the tribes swear fealty to her as Khagan, Ciera pulls Sadu aside, reveals her true name and origins, and swears that if the raids don't stop she'll personally wipe her tribe from the map. Sadu nervously agrees, starting a time of peace amongst the tribes of the desert. Later, the two will go from reluctant allies to staunch comrades-in-arms in no small part thanks to Cirina.

The first time Ciera had seen another Miqo was the trigger for her desire to leave home and explore the world, thus her calling as an adventurer.

Ciera, guarding her Tribe's foray into Reunion for their annual market trip, is shocked to see another of her kind for the first time in her life. The scene is two pictures atop one another, the top showing a pale Miqo woman with white hair speaking with an Auri shopkeeper, the bottom a picture of Ciera standing in front of her tribe's stall with a shocked look on her face. They are clothed out of respect for Reunions rules and other tribe's customs.

Parent's caravan was attacked by a Xaela tribe (probably Dotharl) and she was the only survivor, found by the Torgud who gave her a close-knit extended adopted family who love and care about her and treat her as one of their own.

Lore-wise, Ciera was the name of a friend she made in Dalmasca who sacrificed herself to save her, while Nighthawk was derived from her Tribal adult name Tüngi Qusbegi or "Bird Lord of the Night" which she had described as "She who hunts with hawks by night", hence Nighthawk.

An image of the following text: Ciera doesn't know her birth name, nor does she know what "Ciera" means, because of how she came to possess it, but she acquired the name "Nighthawk" from a nickname based on her coming-of-age name, Tüngi Qusbegi, or "Lord of Birds at Night". Growing up she was adept at hunting in the dark with her hawk while most of the desert slept, earning her adult moniker. After leaving the Steppe and venturing into Dalmasca she became close friends with a resistance fighter named Ciera, who started calling her Nighthawk. Their group was eventually captured by the Garleans, during which Ciera was killed. When asked her name by her captors all she could do was repeat the name of her fallen friend. She combined the two as her full name years later after the ensuing chaos during the Fall of Dalamud allowed her to escape and join the Ala Mhigan resistance. On a lighter note, as a child she was known as Jijig Muur, or "small cat" by her tribe, some of whom still refer to her as Jijig =^.^= Two vertical Mongolian scripts, The left one saying "Jijig Muur" and the right one saying "Tüngi Qusbegi" The Mongolian words Jijig Muur means "small cat" in Mongolian. My original idea was to call her Ay Misiq, or literally "Moon Cat" in Kazakh, but decided I liked this a little bit more. The Kazakh words Tüngi Qusbegi literally meaning "Night" and "Lord of Birds", a traditional title for those who hunt with eagles or other birds of prey. I actually did a lot of research in designing her tribal names, looking into Eurasian Steppe cultures and learning about the Kazakh diaspora that lives in Mongolia.
