Liberal-Tory same old story. Carney-Harper twins separated at birth.

Yeah its mostly because while the average Lib Dem and Labour voter are pretty much identical, the current Lib-Tory swing voter in the SE will be significantly more right wing, which pulls their socially liberal vote down by a few % points.

One of the personally nicest people I know is a libertarian Tory. I think his economic policies (privatise the NHS, massive scaling back of the welfare state, etc.) are basically mad. But he volunteers with his church and is pro multicultural liberal society, not some bogeyman

As an orange Liberal you should probably be more upset about a Liberal PM governing essentially as a red Tory.

Yup. Might buy what he's selling if he was a wet behind the ears kid newly involved in politics, not a veteran politician. Not being cynical (yes I'm absolutely being cynical) wonder which constituency Raj is planning to run in as a Liberal or AB Tory. Think NDP will avoid him like a plague dog.

I agree. Let's also remember that Sir Ed Davey MP voted to increase tuition fees and was a Minister in the Tory and Liberal Democrat Coalition government. Austerity and many bad things. Something he never apologised for.

I went from Thacher-era Tory to committed liberal. Mostly because of the small minded bigotry of conservative politics, but almost as much for the rank stupidity of conservative economic policies.

#TOpoli John Tory stole Olivia Chow's relief line plan in 2014 election and campaigned on it. Typical white man. Anyhow, #ONpoli then took the Ontario Liberal Party's (Premier Kathleen Wynne), slapped his name on it & called it "Ontario Line". Typical white man. Guess who gets the credit.

This happened in the UK once. The Tory Party were incensed that the Liberal government had given the vote to people with no property, and they vowed that as soon as they got back into power, they would reverse that. They re-branded as The Conservatives (cf Prof. Umbrage's speech in Harry Potter).
