Shoutout to me, who tipsily scooted my TV to the left a little bit, snapped off the TOSLINK connector in doing so, then even more tipsily pulled the TV off the wall, whipped out the solder station, and bodged a repair.
We'll see how long this slightly inebriated and totally legit repair lasts!

Early in the design process we wanted more I/O on OpenXHD. A 3.5mm jack and TOSlink port would not fit next to the HDMI port, so we started with a combo 3.5mm TRS/Mini TOSlink port. That was quickly replaced with a 3.5mm TRRS jack and a red LED firing at the back end of it for mini TOSlink S/PDIF.

Thinking for a while about an (non WiFi) old school physical connection for audio from Laptop to Amp. Looked about last week and came up with this SMSL interface. Powers from Laptop, sends (Hi-Res) signal to amplifier via Optical cable. Got so many quality downloads good to take advantage.

instead of using TOSlink I just grabbed an RCA extender (which I guess I have????) and ran it to the speakers. Maybe TOSlink will work some other day, but I needed a proof of concept before I installed these speakers in the arcade cabinet

Many such cases +1, trying to get TOSlink audio out of my MiSTer does not seemingly work. Anyone use TOSlink on this thing? I'm trying to make sure there isn't an INI setting or some shit I need to engage
