Between tows at Ephrata, WA, I caught Linda doing this on one of the club towplanes, so I requested a portrait. She kept her own Piper Cub at Boeing Field in Seattle. Luckily we found an uncluttered background after waiting 15 minutes for a 747 to move.

Can’t wait to be back in the hot seat again, because that means we’ll be back in action for the gliding season! Our Pawnee passed the Eddy Current inspection last night for the latest wing spar AD, so that’s a relief. #gliding #soaring #piperpawnee #towpilot #tuglife

Back in 1985, I got into soaring. We had a field located in Issaquah, WA, next to I-90. A towpilot lived on the field, so a friend and I would often show up mid week to fly. We assembled and a coin flip decided who goes first. This is Max, he got first that day.

The pilot from Foxtrot Uniform has given the sign to his wing man that he's ready for launch. In turn, the wing runner swings his white hat in a circle, a sign to the towpilot to hit the throttle.
