A man featured in a viral video from Quezon City was carrying a toy gun, not a real firearm, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP). The video, which gained significant attention online, showed a man holding what appeared to be a gun, prompting concerns about public safety. The PNP clarified that the object in question was a replica toy gun, dispelling fears of an actual weapon being carried in a public area. The incident occurred in Batasan Hills, a residential area in Quezon City, and the PNP emphasized that the man was not involved in any criminal activity. The police department reiterated the importance of distinguishing between real weapons and toy replicas to prevent unnecessary panic. Authorities also noted that the viral video had been widely shared on social media platforms, leading to confusion among viewers. The PNP urged the public to verify information before sharing content online to avoid spreading misinformation. The incident highlights the challenges of misinformation in the digital age, where videos can quickly go viral without proper context. The police department has been working to educate the public on identifying real weapons versus toy replicas to ensure community safety. This clarification comes as part of the PNP's ongoing efforts to address public concerns and maintain transparency in their communications. The viral video was initially reported by ABS-CBN News, a leading media outlet in the Philippines, which has been covering the incident as it unfolded. The PNP's statement aims to provide clarity and prevent further misunderstanding about the situation. The man in the video was not arrested or charged with any offense, as the PNP confirmed the item was a toy gun. The incident serves as a reminder of the need for responsible social media use and the importance of verifying information before sharing it with others.
