"In the third quarter, electrified vehicles — hybrids and EVs — made up 57 percent of Toyota’s sales, versus less than 4 percent of GM’s."

Just 4 percent EV sales for GM in Q3 is pretty dismal, considering the sheer number of electrified models they offer.

The US Is Desperate for More Electricity. But a Simple Fix Could Free Up Gigawatts of Power Without Building New Plants
In 2015, engineers at Toyota’s sprawling auto factory in Georgetown, Kentucky, found a way to save hundreds of thousands of dollars a year on electricity. They didn’t install solar panels or replace the factory’s machinery. Instead, they installed a device that allowed the ventilation fans to slow down when demand was low. The company fitted 211 electric motors with electronic controllers that automatically adjusted their speed when the factory needed less airflow. The $1.25 million upgrade ultimately saved Toyota more than $700,000 annually in electricity costs. A U.S. Department of Energy case study estimated that the system would reduce the plant’s total electricity consumption by 2.6 percent. Now, as artificial intelligence drives an extraordinary expansion of electricity-hungry data centers, energy experts believe the same relatively simple technology could unlock a vast, largely overlooked source of energy savings across the United States. According to a national assessment by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, roughly 52 million motor systems power America’s factories and commercial buildings. Together, they consume about 29 percent of the country’s electricity. Yet many run inefficiently, using more power than their jobs require. Reducing that waste could help accommodate rising electricity demand, lower industrial energy bills and ease pressure on...

U.S. domestic manufacturers don't. Global do, I've not run the numbers but I wouldn't be surprised if Hyundai had more hybrid models on sale than Ford ICE models in total. Toyota's way up there but a little harder as they have an unhealthy of 20 MPG cruft in body on frame stuff.

The OEM who focused most on hybrids was and remains vilified, and many OEMs bought the management consultant hype and leapt straight into BEVs instead of “wasting their time” on HEVs/PHEVs.
Hyundai/Kia played it best: Toyota’s strategy without the BEV antipathy.

Capitalism drives incredible innovation, but market forces alone can't fix transit. Toyota’s £15,999 ICE car offers crucial affordability for working families today, yet we still need strong public investment in green infrastructure so sustainability isn't just a privilege for the wealthy.
