AVL locates the vehicle; CAD compares that position with the schedule and gives dispatchers something to act on. In 61 bus feeds surveyed, position and vehicle ID appeared in every feed.

Declaring GTFS transfer_type 2 now requires min_transfer_time, turning a consumer-enforced assumption into a rule agencies can validate. GTFS-Realtime alert images also shed their experimental label.

Agencies contributing stops to OpenStreetMap should start with identifiers, not replacement geometry. Of 9,998 US bike-share stations checked, 6,222 were already mapped within 80 feet.

A bus-stop countdown is the end of a chain: GPS location, trip matching, prediction, then GTFS-Realtime. When the estimate jumps, stale positions or a bad trip match may be upstream.
