Subterranean - Troglofauna

Troglofauna are creatures that live in caves and small spaces underground.

They tend to crawl or jump around instead of fly because they have no eyes or wings. Typically they have reduced or no eyes and navigate the dark with other means. 🎨 🐡

This week #InsertAnInvert2024 is about troglofauna: the cave dwellers. 🧪🐡 I’m veering from the suggested species to illustrate some #invertebrates I travelled to see, in the glowworm cave of Waitomo. I love bioluminescence and being a bit claustrophobic I was proud that I ventured into caves, 🧵1/n

yep - and when stygofauna and troglofauna do stop proposals in the EIA process, the local media losses its collective shit and exclaims "Spider Stops Mine" until there's pressure for a God Clause.

Why do eugenicists seem to lump themselves amongst those they consider to have superior genes when such a belief illustrates the opposite? If anything, a belief in eugenics might lead others to rationally hope that eugenicists themselves never successfully breed.
