Living vertebrates, classified into similarly-evolutionarily-divergent groups: Lampreys, cartilaginous fish, ray-finned fish, ceolacanths, lungfish, amphibians, lizards and snakes plus tuataras, birds plus crocodiles and turtles, mammals.

Lovely creatures! Very feminine. Some internet exploration has led me to believe that Gharials have fish-like eyes (eyes, not faces). Meanwhile dwarf caimans' faces remind me of lizards and tuataras.
The extinct aquatic mosasaurs are more closely related to lizards and tuataras than crocodilis.

Tuataras, native to New Zealand. I like these because they're their own distinct species of Creature. Not a lizard. Just some sort of little dinosaur that slipped through the cracks

were-tuatara that gets really offended if you call him a were-lizard. He's not a lizard! Tuataras are the only surviving member of Rhynchocephalia, which mostly died out during the Cretaceous. it’s like if there was a single remaining species of pterosaur that looked like a pigeon.

That's so magical! I love tuataras.

Even a reputable sanctuary does not have the means to properly provide for these animals.

From the tomistomas to the tuataras. From the agoutis to the addax. It’s not as simple as you make it.

Here's a better one: tuataras should be lizards. They were initially placed there, and were only moved out when "rhynchocephalians" (including rhynchosaurs) were thought to be closer to turtles, crocs & birds.

My biometry professor did not appreciate me correcting him that tuataras are not lizards. Would love to see one in situ.
