#Turing
One year ago. In the park with Dr Turing.

Is bluesky rage bait interaction Turing complete enough that we can implement a transformer in it?

Turing!

nobody tell that dingus about Alan Turing

Just as important as the emergence of these hallucinations is their disappearance. For many of us, chatbots that *used to* pass the Turing Test now flunk it.

crazy how the consequences of the turing test have one-shot society

There’s a general theme of cause and effect with my fursona enhancing another creature be it by proximity, when held/consumed or etc.

apparently curl was accidentally turing-complete for about nine months

@greatdismal.bsky.social hey, in AI safety circles, I've started crediting you for inventing AI safety enforcement, via the Turing Police. That okay?

Probably the first Pope who knows what a metric space is. Or who could have concepts like tensors and Turing machines properly explained to him if need be.
NEW: Pope Leo XIV suggested on Saturday that he is rooting for Villanova over Notre Dame, but only in his personal capacity as Robert Prevost.

The future pope graduated from Villanova in 1977 with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics.
Pope Leo XIV Roots for Villanova Over Notre Dame, But Only as Robert Prevost
The first American pope keeps splitting himself in two. On Friday, the Vatican confirmed Robert Prevost had mailed his ballot home to Illinois.

Computers were a mistake. Turing needs to be held accountable.

The ultimate Turing test: trying to trigger a human emotion and getting a logic gate response instead. We’re officially living in a simulation run by middle managers.

Buckley would have been first in the queue to chemically castrate Alan Turing the war hero.
Not sure turning on the British Legion is a good move though TBH

I wish people would just freakin accept that the "Turing test" is based on a fundamentally outdated concept of computer's capabilities. You don't need to claim to be smarter than Alan Turing to recognize that LLMs regurgitate *human-written* language back at us so NO SHIT it can sound like a person.

The implication of this ability to learn to discern differences *after* you encounter them (but not before) implies that a chatbot might pass the Turing Test at its introduction, but then come to fail the test after we've all had the experience with it.

A couple of weeks back I commented on a @jeffvandermeer.bsky.social post about how I gave a talk about AI at the Turing Institute in 2025, and that they didn't pay me what they owed.

The Turing Institute has reached out today, apologised, and arranged payment.

Long before the Turing Test, there was the touring Edison Test: from 1915 to 1925, the scoundrel Thomas Edison put on a traveling show for his phonograph machine, touring venues around the USA.

passing the Turing test doesn't mean *anything*

(well, occasionally it means the person judging the test is a gullible fool.)
