#UKICE
Very important analysis, especially given the current govt fixation on the auto industry and Made in Europe.

Savour UKICE while you still can!
🚗 "Britain’s decline came in two Brexit stages: years of uncertainty post-referendum weakened the industry, before the trade arrangements that replaced EU membership did more lasting damage."

@shepotylo.bsky.social explains how Brexit has damaged the UK car industry.

Weird way to refer to UKICE but enjoy @anandmenon.bsky.social’s cocktails while you can

We still recall the outcry when the possibility of de-funding UKICE was first floated a few years ago. Obvs everyone recognises that research funds are limited & need to cover diverse needs.

But again today: the loss of UKICE will be felt significantly: they've done a huge service to UK politics.

Maybe if you kept track of the UKICE divergence tracker you would have a completely different opinion

Facts and reality matter, making assumptions won’t

Terrible news -- UKICE was an important source of information for me (and I was very proud that we were able to publish two essays based on our Brexit-related research)

UKICE will be sadly missed. Thank you to you and all your team, for all you have done and (we hope!) will continue to do, perhaps in different ways.

This a loss to UK policy. Wake up funding agencies to the fact that Europe is our future but we need to behave with intelligence and insight. Bring back UKICE!

Very sad news.

#UKICE has been an essential source for making sense of post #brexit law & politics in the UK & beyond.

Well-informed, accessible high-quality research which is so sorely needed in these times.

Hats off to Anand Menon & his great team for their massive achievement.

Really sorry to see this - and at a time when Europe is changing faster than in living memory*. Something like UKICE is needed as much as ever.

* Possibly 1989-91. But current changes are still ongoing.

The end of an era - what a privilege it has been to be even a small part of the UKICE journey. It will remain a hugely valuable resource, capturing such a significant period of time for the UK & EU. We are all indebted to @anandmenon.bsky.social and the UKICE team for what they achieved with this

Echoing so many in lamenting the end of such a great organisation led by @anandmenon.bsky.social.

It was a joy for me to spend three years working with brilliant researchers at UKICE to bring evidence-based research from across the social sciences into public and policy debate.

UKICE wasn't actually pro-EU, though they'd probably accept the pro-European label and Anand Menon would definitely agree with ouy about "catastropic in conception and execution". He even did a TED talk on exactly that.

To this Irish/UK economic migrant living in Italy, UKICE was the gold standard for informed analysis and intelligent discourse, throughout a lamentable decade of self imposed UK decline. THANKYOU!

Sad news that valuable organisation UK in a Changing Europe will cease to operate at the end of this year.

Sad to see UKICE finally shutting down - it’s been an invaluable resource to anyone working in related areas of public policy over the last decade or so.

UKICE & @anandmenon.bsky.social have been consistent champions of the value of academic social science research to public debate, & done the hard work making it accessible & getting it out there.

Was a privilege to play a small part in that. This is v sad news, but hope its broader mission lives on

I'm guessing the unfortunate acronym UKICE became a bit too toxic too in light of the US ICE killing & torturing its own citizens.

And we're pleased that @anandmenon.bsky.social, who has directed UKICE since its launch, will continue as a Professor of British and European Politics in the Policy Institute one day a week, working on upcoming research into how values and attitudes are changing across the UK, Europe and beyond

Seven years ago, my first job at the Constitution Unit was on a UKICE-linked project on Brexit, sorting through the constitutional aftermath of the vote and the exit process. It was a fascinating couple of years - and I owe them particular thanks for making it possible.

UKICE has been an invaluable source of incisive, timely and accessible analysis and information of all kinds on UK-EU relations.
