On the one hand, I think I only got into UNCSA because of a DEI-coded effort to diversify their student class.

On the other hand, at least when DEI programs are eliminated we don't have to fucking hear white people whine about them anymore.

Last day in Winston-Salem. University visit went well. Teen a bit concerned if it’s the right school for them, but still excited about UNCSA as an option.

Brecht said something about singing in the dark times. I think most Am Roots music (however you parse that) knows deeply about the dark times. Ours being present does not make them necessarily greater. But the way in which we work thru them could be transfiguring. 1/2

Good morning, fellow world citizens. A few things of note today: Teen accepted offer to Univ. North Carolina School for the Arts (UNCSA). They also completed their last theater show performance as a high school student, working lighting. And the show was very good. Will be watching F1 racing today.

Today in libretto writing, I have named a fictional residence hall and several professors after some of my own beloved professors from UNCSA, and named the president of the fictional college after composer Florence Price. The fictional college is Smythecliffe College for Women.

Not for nothing, but inventing a robot cop is the apotheosis of the braindead and corporate-captured excuse for design thinking and technology innovation that passes for such in universities

Watched the first episode of "English Teacher" and it's one of the best TV comedies I've seen in a while... pacey in a great way. First 5 minutes almost seemed like "The Bear" rhythms but funny. Settles down into a nuanced comedy with a lot of funny throwaway moments ("Tumblr's dead"). Oh and #UNCSA
