Pitt has asked faculty and maybe others for comments on the appalling repackaging of the Compact. We should express clearly our rejection of this new attempt to undermine DEI, impose the hiring of conservatives, restrict free speech, and embrace academic xenophobia. #pitt #Upitt

It is possible for — in the sense used by this UPitt page — a “claim” and evidence for that claim to be in the same sentence.

I walk into a building. I say “it’s raining.”

I’ve offered a claim. But implicit in the claim is also a “report from [someone] who directly experience[d]” the rain.

He provided a "university dissertation," which is that link from uPitt.

It's like an insult to the word dissertation and anyone like you who actually wrote one.

@questauthority.bsky.social he calls this uPitt link a dissertation. I only did a Master's thesis of 100 pages, so I wonder what you think of a single web page as a dissertation.

Good heavens, Billy. That's another term you're misusing.

Astronomers confirm earliest Milky Way-like galaxy in the universe, just 2 billion years after the Big Bang
Scientists continue to push the boundaries of astronomy and cosmology, thanks to next-generation instruments that can see farther and clearer than ever before. Through these efforts, astronomers have observed some of the earliest galaxies in the Universe. In turn, this has led to refined theories and timelines of galactic formation and evolution. In a recent study, a team of astronomers led by the University of Pittsburgh (UPitt) uncovered what could be the earliest barred spiral galaxy ever observed.
