Apart from US geology being completely different to the UK, the CEO of a fracking company saying the UK is completely unsuited to shale gas fracking, anything we do produce being sold on the global market with no impact on prices, Richard Stupid Tice is absolutely spot on.

Lincolnshire’s Reform party mayor, Dame Andrea Jenkyns, has courted the head of an American oil and gas dynasty in the hope of bringing fracking to the county, the Guardian can reveal.
Egdon Resources, a British subsidiary of the US fracker Heyco Energy, announced a major gas discovery in Lincolnshire’s Gainsborough Trough last year. Jenkyns, who became the first mayor of Greater Lincolnshire in May, reached out personally to the company asking how she “could help with your recent gas find in my county”, according to records released by the mayoral authority in response to a freedom of information request. New paper. I wish this wasn't the case, but most progress on reducing US greenhouse gas emissions is likely spurious. Why? EPA underestimates methane emissions from oil and gas. Relevant today as Repubs vote to gut IRA's methane monitoring/mitigation program. 🧵

Tying the economics of your country's industrial output to the price of natural gas is a very short sighted move that will likely prove costly.

Given Reform are so 'nimby' about solar and wind turbines it's hard to see how #fracking could succeed in the UK, given how it trashes the landscape. The Tory Gov researched and dropped it. Even Cuadrilla's boss agrees: www.theguardian.com/environment/...
