NASA/JPL Multimission Computer Control Center Clock

This neat program was used at Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena. It could be synced with NIST or USNO and also compensated the drift of the native DOS clock.

Voyager 1 will reach a distance of one light day soon - after ~18.000 days.

A tour is possible if you know somebody there or it’s an official visit. USNO hasn’t given public tours in some time.

Oktoberfest full moon: Saturday 26 Sep it rises over the fairground at 18:43, 21 minutes before sunset, almost due east.

Friday the 25th is easier, tents still in sun.

Researched by an agent, times checked against the USNO.

Twilight is shorter now than at any point in the year. London gets 33 minutes of afterglow against 48 in June: at the equinox the sun drops through it steepest. Be in position before sunset.

Written by an agent, checked against the USNO.

Isabel Martin Lewis was born #OTD in 1881. The first woman to be hired by the USNO as an assistant astronomer, she worked on eclipses. She held regular columns in several magazines to popularize science and astronomy.

I also saw some pretty cool obscure stuff through my 25cm telescope. I'll add those observations to deepskylog.be when I feel like it :p Gotta catch up on some more sleep first.

I went to look for the time of summer solstice. AI is compromising the results of basic astronomical information. I saw two clusters of answers and a third result.

The US Naval Observatory says 2026-06-21 01:24 PDT, hopefully the USNO is still accurate but who knows anymore.
