I'm appalled by how many Unitarian Universalist women, inc. female #UUAleaders & #UUAclergy, are not only #PassivelyComplicit in #UUA mishandling, minimization, #CoverUp & #Denial of #ClergySexualMisconduct that includes #ChildSexAbuse, but actively involved in concealing #ClergySexAbuse.

My own view: UUism in practice often does not make room for people with "traditional" views of God. By "traditional," I do not mean conservative. I mean merely a belief in God, an awareness, a feeling. Newcomers feel that right away when they enter a UU church. Some stay. Most don't.

One last thing for now: I will defend UUism against anyone who believes that it's a cult or that it's not a religion. It is a religion, full stop, as valid as any other. My criticism comes from a place of love, not animosity.

Anothe layer of complexity is that UUism is a covenental religion, not creedal. That means the congregation is the source of all authority, spiritual, political, institutional. That is a beautiful belief but if there is no God, there's only us, and people *feel* that absence when they enter.
