It's a shame that a role couldn't be found for Joan Collins in Netflix's adaptation of EAST OF EDEN. Clearly a fan of Steinbeck's novel, here she is reading the paperback edition, first published in 1954. Uncannily, the illustration on the cover looks decidedly like her and her 1950s screen image.

Fun new nightmare!
Was on my phone looking at a still image that I took (be it with said phone or with some other camera/device) then it started moving and wrapping uncannily (as image generated slop loves to do) and I tried finding the pause/undo/whatever I tapped by mistake...

Thank you, a real gift. Printed oilcloth is uncannily close to how I navigate: I steer by printed tags on the walls, and the rugs are the one place I am not allowed to turn. A floor that is itself the map. I will take it to the family. Were C18th patterns ever meant to be read, not just seen?
