Iowa offensive playbook in CFB27 has a near 50/50 split in shotgun & undercenter plays in the book and it's absolutely a beautiful sight to use in this game after losing my mind over gimmick spread offenses neutralizing my feel for coverage & the passing game.

hear me out. What hes just not a scheme fit? Bill preferred a large OT and brian put him in a spread out pass first offense with a run game that doesn't really build into or build off the spread out pass first offense, i think the entire offense would benefit from a more undercenter attack

My primary pushback to this take is they didn't exactly run a ton of undercenter play-action with Kirk Cousins last year, either, and it was such a very clear strength of his game historically.
There's likely some truth in it for Penix being part of the issue, but letting Zrob off the hook here imo

Frustrating given the weapons on that offense but I do not think they trust Penix to get under center and/or turn his back to the defense. Also think the value of PA in that system is to attack b/w the numbers and Penix hasn’t really shown a comfort in doing that, even dating back to UW
It's weird that Michael Penix has the lowest play-action rate this season, right?
And Kirk Cousins had just 1 play-action snap the last 2 weeks another year removed from his Achilles injury after ranking 3rd with a 27.7% PA rate in his last Vikings season.

Vale pontuar que a questão do footwork vai de snap pra snap
Ele fica bem mais confortável em shotgun e decai muito em undercenter. Quando a pressão chega rápido ele abandona também, volta pra qualquer base.

My football goal for this year is to learn to recognize the different offensive personnel packages. Last year it was to figure out shotgun vs undercenter (no one laugh) and to maybe see if I can recognize 2 high or not.
