There's always a moment of "erm" when you find out you're getting an understudy. Understudies and swings are amazing, but they don't get the nightly practice the leads do, and with shows that have big vocal swings, that can be an issue.

I just read that actors are refusing to do the show, so understudies are going on. Not sure if this is accurate, or what the understudies think. If true, hope they will refuse, also.

The other thing you can do is to restart summer unstaged opera performances in local City parks. I loved those growing up, they are not expensive to do, they give understudies performance opportunities, and you bring opera into the ears of kids and adults who have never heard it before.
