Who would have thought that our lovely St Luke's Library was once a gym!

This University Archive throwback shows the Gymnasium at the Exeter Diocesan Training College (now St Luke's Campus) c 1910s-20s. It was converted into a Library in 1961.

Did you know that Bradninch Place - the building now home to the Exeter Phoenix - opened as a university building in 1911?

Purpose built with 40 rooms and a lecture theatre, it was part of the University of Exeter until 1983.

Here's the Palm House in 1899, when it stood at Reed (Streatham) Hall, on what today is University of Exeter's Streatham Campus!

It was moved to the Imperial in 1927, but you can still see the chimney from the heating system in the garden today.

Hope Hall accommodated students (originally women-only) from 1915. The Hope Hall Annals in our archives are a record of the residents 1928-1952.

This photograph from our #UniOfExeterArchive shows England international footballer Evelyn Lintott. It was taken during his teacher training days at St Luke's College, Exeter, in 1907. He died on 01 July 1916 - #OnThisDay 110 years ago - on the 1st day of the Battle of the Somme.

71 years ago tomorrow, the University College of the South West was granted its royal charter and became the University of Exeter.

In 1955, there were only around 1,000 students studying at the university - today there are approximately 30,000!

Yesterday marked 47 years since St Luke's (teacher training) College merged with the University of Exeter.

This University Archive throwback shows St Luke's (then the Diocesan Training School) in 1855.

In the early 1900s, women and men were taught separately at the Royal Albert Memorial College (predecessor of @exeter.ac.uk).
