#OTD January 19 1944, the third and #Unryu-class aircraft carrier, Katsuragi #葛城 was launched at #Kure Naval Arsenal. Although she was completed in October of 1944 she never embarked an #IJNAS air group or left Japanese waters. She was lightly damaged in the #TF38 raids on Kure in 1945. 1/2

Oh, Gaijin is adding the Amagi, so how will they implement aircraft carriers?

What? not the Unryu class? The Battlecruiser?

Do they know it doesn’t exist?

#Katsuragi ended the war in Kure, and was designated as a transport ship. She repatriated around 12,000 Japanese military personnel and civilians back home, serving in this role until November 1946. She she was then decommissioned, and scrapped at #Sakurajima in Osaka. 2/2 #NavalHistory #IJN

Hm, I don't have specific technical reference on Hosho beyond what is around in _Kaigun_, for example. Hans Lengerer & Lars Ahlberg do the best technical reference work on IJN warships in English overall. They have several books on different IJN carriers, but the earliest thus far is Kaga & Akagi.

27) My final for my Chinese Art and Culture class in '14. We could do anything, so I chose to do a 11x17 portion of a scroll with artwork based on the Northern Sung Dynasty landscape paintings. Honestly, I feel I kinda mixed the South and North Sung a bit. Copic markers & unryu rice paper.
