She received an honorary doctorate from the University Of Ottawa for her achievements in music and commitment to women’s empowerment, physical, psychological, and spiritual integrity. Good for her.

Precisely. I've said this before, but there are such striking similarities between this case and the uOttawa hockey team case.

A major one being that in both cases, the men themselves admitted to really disgusting, obnoxious, and I would say, misogynistic behaviour. And still played the victim.
Even if things went as those men said, it was despicable behaviour.

The University of Ottawa Student Union is off with their skate/LRT race! They're calling attention to the need for big improvements to transit. The time to beat UOttawa -> Carleton by train is 35 minutes!

Just got the all-clear from uOttawa. No injuries currently reported.

When the uOttawa hockey players were acquitted years ago, even the judge that gave them that acquittal condemned their behaviour that night as "ungentlemanly."

Beyond a reasonable doubt & crossing the threshold of legality =/= threshold of morality.

Very happy to be here. Looking forward to exchanging views on Canadian and comparative constitutional law, and to sharing the work of the uOttawa Public Law Centre!

I'm gonna be graphic here, so word of a caution if you're a survivor :🧵

The uOttawa hockey team was acquitted & the Hockey Canada team will probably be acquitted, too but that doesn't change the fact that in both cases, the men themselves admitted to behaviour that was downright abhorrent.

Kudos to UOttawa prof Jason Millar for this excellently put summary of the 'existential AI' warnings and their larger context:

This sucks.

I was a DJ & Program Manager for my campus station. I learned how to speak, develop an agenda, manage schedules & people, deal with admin & government regulators.

Half the skills I use in my career now, I honed in campus radio.

And I met my wife.
