Some good news on the Glasgow listed building front. The appeal of the original decision not to allow a developer to demolish this rather beautiful former printworks on Maxwell Street and turn the site into a 19 storey hotel has been rejected.

The original planning submission was rejected in November, but now their appeal of that decision has now also been rejected. While it's currently very run down, this is a rather beautiful Thomsonesque building with a lot of potential.

The former New City Road branch of the Glasgow Savings Bank. Built in 1909, it's one of only a few older buildings to survive the post-war redevelopment this part of Glasgow.

This largely involved demolishing the traditional sandstone tenements and replacing them with a motorway and interchange to allow quicker access from the suburbs, which lie beyond the city's limits, into the heart of Glasgow.
