Gjerne magnetisk hurtigkobling, men ikke noe must.

if it turned out urth was lying about his visions i would genuinely do a 180, game of the year, a visionary text, but yeah thats the story

I had to leave the Urth Rage discord because they’re all going straight into messing with a AI Decompiled Dreamcast Port of Primal Rage. Meanwhile the MAME team I hear is gonna add some AI added “fixes” in their next update for PR’s emulation.
I’ve pretty much given up on it ever being fixed now.

SAME or odin and urth (he says something "urth, one day i'll find thee" in ARR and i wonder... bc someone then brought up that what if au ra man is odin? urth would fit too since people theorize halmarut's name is comparable to aerith. aertih. urth. hmm.

yeah man i really loved snell and was pretty impressed by how blunt and honest he is with you early on about genocide. Glad he got to tell Urth to fuck off but I was very annoyed by Urth rationalizing genocide and then telling Snell to be the leader his people need in this moment, like fuck off dude

The Urth of the New Sun
Oh boy. This was sure A Book.
I gotta digest this for a good while but Wolfe sure knows how to play the long game here. The amount of fuckery afoot in this book narratively speaking is insane. Also compelling though!

hi! i LOVED your thread so so much!!!
i'd love to hear your thoughts about the allagan legend of lady urth and odin and if you believe, using norse mythology, pre-ascian halmarut could have had something to do with it?? i feel her story is connected to this somehow!

What yarn is that? I'm knitting a sweater with exactly those colours in it. It's a fingering merino called Uneek from Urth Yarns.
I hope you get as much please from all those colours as I've had knitting with mine.

The other thing the ending of Urth give us is all the “Urth is Blue!!! No Urth is Green!!” theorising that no doubt plagues the reddit to this day

I like the fact that all the little mysteries we like to torture ourselves with (who is Sev’s sister, Agia/Agilus, Miles/Jonas, Valeria, First Severian, the Brown Book) never really get addressed at all. The hieros, Hethor, and Ushas do get clearer once you’ve read Urth.

I definitely don’t love Urth, but I do admire the way Wolfe seems to have gone “sure, I’ll explain it all for you”…<puts phone down>…explain it like the Voynich manuscript, fuckers.

OK finished Jeff Vandermeer‘s ABSOLUTION for the first time - like URTH OF THE NEW SUN* an “it’s there if you want it but watch out“ bolt-on to a completed work
*which I love, in fairness - this return to a work is a hard thing to pull off for all that SFF writers keep doing it

I love how easy it would be to make obata's severian as seen in Urth in fortune's weave. if I wasn't already two missions past the character creator I'd go back and fix it. but I can be thecla it's fine
