"But Disney World has tunnels!"

Magic Kingdom was built atop an artificial hill, the Utilidors sit at actual ground level
February 12, 2026 at 2:24 AM
lmao there's a reason why the utilidors over at Disney are at ground level and the park is built on landfill above that
Oh for fuck sake. How is anyone still falling for this bullshit? You can’t just dig tunnels in Florida. Our unofficial state fish is the sink hole. Anyway. RIP Harry Potter land, swallowed by Elon Musk’s giant unfinished hole in the ground probably.
Elon Musk’s tunneling company tapped to link Universal parks
The company is best known for creating the underground Las Vegas Loop. But little is known about how The Boring Company intends to proceed in Central Florida, including how it might approach constr…

Wafting up from the utilidors underneath it 😂

Maybe it’s like the Disney Utilidors? Multi-purpose tunnels?

Have you heard about EPCOT’s secret tunnels? While Magic Kingdom’s “Utilidors” are famous, EPCOT’s central core hides a network of tunnels that are equally as cool. They serve a similar purpose to their famous counterparts, but do they have the same smell?

I'm trying to go to didney world and get freaky with nick wilde in the utilidors

Got to go in the Utilidors and backstage at EPCOT (where I saw the Maelstrom boats)

Outside of the Utilidors, yeah I think so.

The utilidors aren’t technically underground. I’m curious how they’re going to build these things in a damn swamp.

Right? Like, famously, Disney built their utilidors on ground level out there, then built the park on top of that! Did Universal/Musk think they did that for fun?

Hahaha oh utilidors. I swear that Tomorrowland smells like a sneeze.

You basically can't have anything underground in Florida. Disney World only has the Utilidors under the parks because the parks actually sit like 15-20 feet above ground.

- The Utilidors: Beneath Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, there's a network of tunnels called the Utilidors, which allow cast members to move around without breaking the magic for guests. These tunnels help keep the park's "show" level consistent 😃😃😃

On this week's Disney Dish:

- What it's really like in the Utilidors
- Nerds and their Disney theme park-inspired houses

Here's my Space Mountain-themed kitchen. Those are four 60" plasma TVs in the back.

Sorry for the echo in the intro audio. I was traveling.

I worked at the Magic Kingdom and I vividly remember the first time I entered the back end of the utilidors, which are industrial like the back alleys at a hotel. But then you walk up two flights of stairs, open a nondescript door, and you're in the middle of Fantasyland. It's mind bending.

"“Obviously, it’s expensive,” said Debra Laefer, a professor of civil and urban engineering at New York University, “but in the long term, it would be hugely cheaper,” especially “in areas where we are digging all the time, there’s a direct business case for moving towards these utilidors.”

The decision to not have the utilidors have an elevator up to the island was a bad one, and that’s what killed this place.

Have to deliver supplies by raft is a shitty way to run a restaurant. 🤣

Is there a corresponding expansion of the Utilidors for Villains?
While D23 Expo is sure to provide some exciting updates, we wanted to take a moment before the madness to check in on the current Walt Disney World projects with our construction snapshot 🏗️ 📸

The Keys to the Kingdom tour (Magic Kingdom / Florida) takes you through the Utilidors.

There is SO MUCH "abandon in place" old wiring in cable trays.

It's FIVE HOURS. It's a LOT of walking. It does include lunch, though.

Beneath the Magic Kingdom is a series of corridors to provide access to the park for employees and services. At 8 underground acres, the Utilidors (Utility Corridors) were so confusing that guides had to be stationed for months after the park opened to rescue lost employees.
