Partnerships in practice: how to strengthen the role of community-led organisations in neighbourhood health
NHS Alliance and Local Trust, 13th October 2026 his report shares learning from an 18-month action research programme on how the NHS and local government partners can change how they work with local communities and the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector. Run by the NHS Alliance and Local Trust, and supported by the Innovation Unit, six of the Big Local legacy areas in some of England’s most deprived neighbourhoods each received funding to test community-led approaches to health and to build partnerships with statutory services.

This is worth a look - a case study of work we’ve been doing with HIVCA (VCSE Alliance for health and care across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight) and Energise Me, the local Active Partnership. Plenty of food for thought and guidance about building leadership capacity and confidence in the sector 😃
Voluntary sector organisations in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight came together to strengthen their voice in health and care. Today, we’re pleased to share their story in the ‘YES WE HIVCAN’ case study:

The report also highlights the strength and expertise already within communities – but VCSE/FBOs can't tackle structural inequality alone.

With better data, sustained investment, and, crucially, the involvement of minority ethnic women, we can design and deliver better interventions for women.
