#BirdOfTheDay theme today is #WorldOceanDay. Here’s a grey heron at #Velassaru #Maldives. #IndianOcean #LaccadiveSea. 🪶
A grey heron stands on a weathered stone pier at the edge of bright turquoise sea water, facing right in profile. It has a dark crown, pale face and neck, grey wings, a long orange beak, and long yellow legs. The background shows a calm horizon with a soft blue sky and distant land faintly visible on the left.

Sometimes it’s good to mix it up with a flap too. #HeronSky #Birds 🪶 #velassaru #maldives 🇲🇻

A grey heron, I think. Lots of them around if I recall correctly.
#Velassaru #Maldives.
#Birds 🪶
This image shows a large bird, most likely a grey heron, standing on a concrete surface near the edge of the water. The heron is facing to the right, with its long legs and neck clearly visible. Its plumage is predominantly grey with some white on the head and neck, and it has a distinctive long, pointed orange-yellow beak. The background features turquoise-blue water and a hazy sky, suggesting a coastal or seaside location, possibly in a tropical or subtropical area. There are also some rocks and concrete debris at the edge of the surface where the heron is standing. The overall scene is serene, giving a feeling of calmness by the sea.

If I could afford it, I would. It’s a bucket list trip, and I’m staying in an over water villa (another bucket list item). I thought it would be appropriate.
