The Green Mountain Boys (VTANG) operate F-35s out of Burlington Intl in VT. 5th gen stealth fighters would be extremely useful for strikes to pacify an allied nation, but they're operating out of the town that elected Bernie Sanders mayor. It's also very close to Canada.

Absolutely maddening to live close enough to Fenway that I can HEAR when MAANG F-15s or VTANG F-35s do a flyover before a game, but far enough away that I can't SEE them.

I'll note both VTANG & MAANG have had joint duties serving as interceptors for the northeast for years. Both used to fly dedicated interceptor aircraft but all of those duties eventually devolved to F-15s & F-16s & now their successor the F-35.
