Ailyrah was built as a beacon to the Varlins if Rahdis’s returned.

It is the last bastion of humanity, should all else fall and a secret contingency plan even the Varlins don’t know of that King Nehim devised.

We've got resources and fancy natural spaces covered. Now, let's move to why it's even here.

In your world's history, what was the reason this place was established? Was it as something like a trade hub or military outpost? Potential not yet discovered?

Amadeus Cloudtalker, King of the Seven, Lord of the Varlin Empire is the Voice of Yonogran.

Varlins are basically gods too, but serve Yonogran.

The Keepers, a group of wizard/monks who maintain the Mirari Wall, serve the Varlins. Antioch is their leader.

Tell me about the authority figures among your deities' followers!

If there is an organized religion, who are the leaders? Is there one high authority, like the Dalai Lama or the Pope? Who are the gods' representatives in ordinary communities?

Agaren and the Agarites to the East were rendered extinct, devoured by Spyderrans created by the Rahdispawn.

When the Varlins descended to Ezra once more, they fought Rahdis, the Spyderran made from Vaahti and the first Rahdispawn.

When Rahdis was destroyed, the Varlins punished Romm.

Rahdis would raise the Necromancer’s Army and destroy the Mirari Wall covering Ezra in the Ether, essentially dragging the world into Hell.

The prophecy is the Varlins would destroy Rahdis and finally banish the Ether.

But the Varlins haven’t left their mountain since they destroyed Rahdis. 2/2

No priests. No churches. The Varlins actively discount the idea.

Being a cleric is more based on profession.

Cleric of Ianok - Gravediggers, morticians, and executioners.

Cleric of Diogenes - Farmers, midwives, and winemakers.

Cleric of Thenis - Librarians, seafarers, and scribes.

Let's say I want to become a follower of your gods/spirits - what sorts of rituals would I need to do, if any?

What if I want to become an authority figure, like a priest or shaman?

As always, interpret the prompt however makes sense for you!

The central continent is the most verdant.

Ailyrah is on coastal cliffs. Mines to the north. Farms in the central plain. Fish and wood from the south.

It is the final bastion and warning system to the Varlins if Rahdis returns.

Let's get to the "city-builder" stuff. Where is this getting put on your world?

Will or did this impact design choices for features like architecture, available resources, or culture? Or is there a reason that won't matter (like tech or magic: day 13)? 👀

The Varlins are magic peacekeepers. It cannot be overstated how badly you fucked up if a Varlin arrives.

No magic is forbidden as complexity tends to kill the caster.

Scribing on human skin is regulated, as magic tattoos can be very dangerous.

What's the relationship between magic and the law in your world?

Is magic illegal? If so, how is the law enforced?

If it's legal, are there any specific techniques that ARE illegal or forbidden? Why?

Is magic perhaps used to *enforce* the law?

Scribing a new spell.

Those who train with the Varlins on Mt. Leghna do this as a final "exam."

If you succeed, your spell will inscribe itself upon the Tring, which records all spells that have been or ever will be cast.

Spellmakers are quite rare.

What does it take to be considered a "master" of your magic system?

Is it about the range of your techniques? The difficulty level? The amount of knowledge in your head? Your ability not to set yourself on fire?

Or perhaps there IS no "mastery"?

The Seven Varlins are enemies of Ilvegran, the god of evil, and its Ezra-bound servant the Shade Dragons.

Varlins will take elves to train as scribes as they created written language.

Rahdis will gives spells of necromancy if summoned.

Human gods create artifacts, such as Ianok’s Thorn, a shard of ice that can pierce anything.

Mostly wildcards.

There is an understanding about the gods: They are not good. They can be the rain on your crops or the wind that freezes you to death.

Few mortals factor in their affairs. The Keepers, wizards who serve the Varlins, maintain the Mirari Wall and hold back Rahdis’s minions.

Varlins live atop Mt. Lengha.

Surrounding Ezra is the Mirari Wall, a magic barrier to keep out the Ether: a soul rending fog. It is said the gods dwell there.

Yonogran is said to grant the dead the peace of oblivion. To enter the Ether alive is to wander it forever.

Yet Romm remains unclaimed by the Ether, and no one knows why… yet.

The Varlins are basically warrior popes that rule Ezra but no one sees them.

Yonogran & Ilvegran are more cosmic forces. Other gods do not measure against them.

Ianok is the ruler of the human gods, as he is God of Time and Death.

Rahdis is like Cthulhu to Azathoth, a priest deity.

Who are the most respected/powerful deities? Who is more obscure? Do some deities defer to others? Are there minor spirits who serve the big boss gods?

Irrilev, the City of Fountains, are the keepers of the largest library (outside of the Varlins) on Ezra. This is open to the public for free.

Magic is only gate kept by the need to be able to read and write.

Anyone can learn. Different languages work. AEIMQUY is the most common, though.

February 5, 2026 at 7:35 AM
Aeimquy was created by the Varlins and was intended as a gift for all Ezra.

They decided to keep it for themselves and created Sivelonu (Elf-Letters) a cursive script better suited to quill pens as you blot less.

The Common tongue is widely understood and came from humanity due to trade.

Ailyrah is ruled by the human king. The Keeper of the lighthouse is appointed by the Varlins but it is tradition to make the Keeper their king.

The ruling council also includes the Barons, guild leaders, and Antioch, head of all Keepers.

My magic is written, so: AEIMQUY

Language of the Varlins, the seven god-kings. Most magic is scribed in these runes.

It uses the directional WENS system (West, East, North, South) as in actuality there's only 7 runes.

The runes for A E I M Q U Y.

Spyderrans disintegrated as the touched it.

The Varlins instructed the humans to not look upon the battlefield. Go inside. Cover their eyes.

As they threw off the cloaks the light was blinding even behind closed eyes, closed doors. Even the deepest basement was bright.

And the Spyderrans fell.

Antioch is now the head of The Keepers, the seven most powerful wizards in Ezra, and is charged by the Varlins with the keys to the Tower of Iorin, the heart of the Mirari Wall.

Ailyrah was built into a great fortress, but did not become the capital yet. And Reffo was established.
