Blockbuster sucked. It was the very worst. But Rogers used to run videostores, and I still mourn that it eventually became a paint store.

I think it's 'cause by the time Millennials were able to rent videos, Blockbuster had already lit all the mom & pop videostores on fire (figuratively speaking). I started renting in the 80s, when stores bought everything from classics to gross-out horror to foreign films. It was a great free-for-all

As someone who worked at videostores for a decade, I remember discovering this one back then and cherishing its weirdo vibes. Worth a nostalgia watch for sure.

Videostores were great, what you wants out; there are literally 1000's of other movies you could take a chance on. I never left one empty handed.

Videostores, by which I mean Blockbuster, were okay in the late 90s, but by mid 2000s they'd gotten a lot worse focusing more and more shelf space to recent releases. This was a big deal pre streaming since it constrained the physical space for other movies, then redbox killed them on new releases.
