just need to get Gram's birth certificate; asking mom bc vital records are hairy for 1927 (vitalcheck is 1930 forward; familysearch appears to be up to 1925...) and mom's and then will have most of what i need...

I just want to say that Vitalchek may not be the most EVIL of government contractors, but they are certainly the most indifferent and the most haughty about defending themselves.

Do you just not have the original or is it something more complicated than that? It costs money, but I used vitalcheck to get a raised-stamp certified copy of my birth certificate a few years ago because my parents couldn’t find mine (until, of course, I had already ordered the new one).

MAGA at work having problems getting a passport; they didn't like his birth certificate. VitalCheck was unable to locate a copy of his birth certificate. He ended up having to call the hospital where he was born and begging them for a copy.

if you have to use a service ( like Vitalcheck, which many cities now employ) it could cost you up to $75 to get your birth certificate

Just ordered several copies of my marriage certificate, through VitalCheck records. Need to upload an ID; get it notarized (they have on-line notaries); however, if not good with computers; then need to have it notarized in person. Kicker - TEN weeks before I get it in the mail.

There is a website called VitalCheck that can retrieve all sorts of records: birth certificates, death certificates, and more.
The problem is that they charge money for this and are a humongous pain in the fucking ass to deal with.

yeah, that could be a specific verification thing. a lot of places uses vitalcheck now, which I don't think asks for the hospital but will usually ask for the parent names, city/state/county of birth and other identifying info

My mom is heading back next month (my brother had an accident in Texas so she was taking care of him) so I can get another copy but VitalCheck got me one a while back to fix my passport... it just cost x4 times more.

Ohio's new law is blatantly unfair to women. My 70 year old sister tried to renew her driver's license using the same birth certificate she has used her entire life. The BMV refused that document. My sister obtained a new certificate of birth from KY using VitalCheck which charged exorbitant fees.
It will be a pain of a job getting them all. Friend had to do it with 4 divorce decrees and legal names changes. SC uses VitalCheck for all their vital statistics docs. You may want to check if your state has requests online. Good luck!!

It was created to be an interface for municipalities. But it really is only there to make money.
For example, I wanted a copy on my Brother's death certificate and the people in Yonkers (and others too) would not deal directly with me - I HAD to go to VitalCheck and I went through the process
