I mean I think it's pretty obvious but they 1000% meant for this to look like a proposal and I am never not thinking about Pei Su proposing with his mother's medallion

I haven't seen Southern Archives yet mydramalist.com/700335-cases... but screencaps imply he might get punched at some point.
Justice in the Dark: mydramalist.com/50145-the-li... so tempting for Luo Weizhao to punch
And that's all I've seen him in, but perfect score

Continuing the rewatch: I think my mom likes the ship but also said tonight “Luo Weizhao is acting like his dad” and I had to bite back a “Joke’s on you, they’re both into that”

This little scene is going to live rent free with me forever.
Why are you staring longingly at each other? Plus the lighting Luo Weizhao is framed by and the almost look of awe on Pei Su's face. It's everything. I love it.

I'm putting episode 21 in my top ten episodes of any TV show I've ever watched. These scenes are so important and they did such a good job with them.
It ripped me apart and it was perfect.

This is what watching censored romance is all about, revelling in the characters standing shoulder to shoulder.
I love how often they do this.

writing jitd-canon-specific fic except I've gotten so used to writing their novel names that "Weizhao" keeps coming out as "Weizhou" oh no 😭

'I can't talk to you about this case right now but I will.' Luo Weizhao is trying to keep Pei Su safe and also be aware of his involvement. I appreciate the communication happening here, even it's still difficult. At least he said something instead of leaving it alone.

Right you got up for a glass of water not to see why Luo Weizhao was still awake..okay. Also let's just stand here and stare longingly at each other instead of saying the things we want to say. Okay.

ALSO, how well was this scene shot? So good. The way they're facing each other and in that last shot Pei Su isn't looking at the cat but the space beside him. The space he left there. 🥲
Anyway, this episode ate me alive.

This conversation, even though I already read it, watching it made me quite emotional.
Luo Wenzhou is always saying "Quit playing around, don't hurt yourself, your life is worth more." It makes me want to wail.

Watching the play and then cutting to Pei Su's father taking him away. Then Luo Weizhao looks over and Pei Su is gone. As to say "I let him go." All those years ago..
Ooofff. I cannot say enough about this. This adaptation continues to be stellar. 👏👏

This episode did me in. I cannot believe how well they put this part of the story together.
'that's my mom and I miss her but someone else is waiting for me. I'm not done yet.'
"You tired come with me."
"No don't give up."
And the flashbacks! Ahh.

Episode 13 was PERFECT.
Adding the part with him imagining Fei Du using the chair was AWFUL. I hated that. (I mean that affectionately because geez it hurt.🥲)
There were lines of dialogue that were basically word for word from the novel and I'm living for it.
