But it's WLCSP with over 30 balls spaced 0.4mm apart. 💀

here it is mounted on a SOIC-8 pinout with a tiny bit of UV epoxy, like a particularly exotic dead bug

this is my first time soldering a 0.3mm pitch WLCSP, so it took me a bit to set up the workspace the way that makes it possible, but it's not too bad

Package variant: CK (WLCSP)
Function variant: AB - not listed in the datasheet
Hardware revision: D
Production device identifier: 0
Likely that this version has enhanced AP protection 😭

The thing is…phones are usually sealed. The Pi is an exposed development board.
Don't blame the engineers too hard, Apple actually had a similar issue with the iPhone 4.

Should be able to fit everything on a pcb the size of an 3.5mm jack+usb port :D plenty of space left for caps, crystals, power etc.

It's an older part, and the STM32F4 sure has some quirky errata, but it's pretty well supported by embassy-stm32. I'm definitely interested in following along :D

Okay no more unsolicited advice, but always happy to chat if you do want opinions :D

Its a WLCSP-4 package, switching voltages of around 30Vpp and less than 150mA of current. It drives a charging coil at 6.8Mhz, rise times of roughly 20ns.
Its about 0.9x0.9x0.6mm ex. bumps, tall boi!
Could it be a GaN transistor?

have you been impressed by the WLCSP work?

Got some ~1000nm NIR LEDs from @bunnie.org at 39C3.
Not really for security research in my case, I just like looking at ICs because its cool.
This is a ~1.6x1.6mm Azoteq captouch IC.

I know for sure that the MAX77655 will be my nearest EASY demo for the Hardware Design Series. Despite the fact that the package is the WLCSP with the 0.5 mm pitch.
Have you ever used the SIMO converters?
