#Waikato
Waikato Regional Council had been working on Plan Change 1 for 14 years. It'd just been signed off by the environment court. This government chucked it out.

We deserve better, our waterways deserve better.

Tania Waikato has been posting about voters being turned away this week.

In a micro demonstration of how far things like democracy have been eroded over the last three years, Newsroom seem to be the only ones who want to know about it - details here:

Fuck me, if I can't do this human rights compliant horseshit, throw my ass in the Waikato river and call it a day

We've had Māori electorates since 1867 - so they're not exactly new...

OH! 🤯

Lemme tell you about Te Tiriti o Waitangi - the cliff notes' cliff notes version

- Te Tiriti has 90% of the signatures
- Heard of the Waikato wars? Land confiscation? Raupatu?
- Māori electorates/roll not perfect

We've caught up with our backlog! Ab 608 recently visited Auckland on loan to GVR, running several trips out of Glenbrook throughout Waikato and the Bay of Plenty. We caught a few of these trips and travelled along to Tauranga. https://nzrailphotos.co.nz/photos/ab-608-visits-auckland?view=latest

It disturbs me to read the messages being sent to Tania Waikato about people being turned away from the voting booth because they don't have their ezy card. Looks like the training to the scrutineers in some areas is poorly done. What say you @ninjakitty.bsky.social
