Whilst with a group of #Jewish #refugees on #ThisDayInHistory in 1940, philosopher & social critic #WalterBenjamin killed himself. He was in #Francoist Spain with a visa for travel to the United States, but the #fascist government in Madrid decided to send him back to the #Nazis.
