My point is that in the unlikely event that Labor exits Aukus - would require huge missteps from Trump, certainly capable but won't coz money - France would consider a deal because the political, financial and strategic benefits would be overwhelming, particularly as they're industrially warfooting.

Not just for defence spending now, for which I think the govt may still be fruitlessly hoping we’re not on a path to warfooting, but keeping it sustainable in the long run.

Thing is, if there are currently 3 camps in Scotland: pro-Indy (who already seen Unionists as brainwashed). Unionist (who see themselves as Brit patriots), & undecideds, Starmer's warfooting will just entrench 1st 2 groups, but the latter may opt for a msg of hope, rather than "brace yourselves!'
