Or how much disrespect I have for the current band of overpaid #university administrators who have accepted such political interference. #auspol

C’mon @jimchalmers.bsky.social we need a strong #climate policy, a focus on building Green productivity, reform in #public #education and drastic measures to end the #WarOnYouth. #auspol
BREAKING: We've just introduced legislation to cut fuel taxes for another month.

This is more support that'll help take the sting out of prices and help more Australians with the cost of living.⁩⁩

The ‘safety ‘ initiative for #kids is a cover and distractor for ZERO planning. & policy about the #media and #propaganda impact of the #WarOnYouth

JUST IN: ALP has renewed it's commitment to kids with a new safety initiative. Albanese posing with ‘Super Same Race Multi‑Bet $20 Bonus Bets Man’ at this morning's launch said the campaign "will provide a role model to teach kids responsible behaviour both online & at school”

More to come.

This is unacceptable without deep discussion about when & how #government loyalty to #US will boomerang here. We already have #WarOnYouth, #FirstPeople #racism, #selective #xenophobia for #minorities, #illegal #refugee treatment, AND rising #inequality & #violence against women & children. #auspol

Generally the #costs of being a #student, especially living away from home, are becoming very high. With rising #poverty, and an #economic #WarOnYouth the numbers of part time students have been rising for decades. Time for ‘needs based’ support for #education. #UniversitiesInChaos

Part-time students are more than twice as likely to drop out of university than their full-time peers. How can unis better support this vulnerable group?
35% of Australian uni students are part-time. But higher ed is still geared towards full-timers

But the #WarOnYouth #impact is worse than ever, #violence against #women is outrageous and rising, the #criminal, #bullying, #murderous allies your government stands with are having a shocking impact on our young men! Please can we actually stop the carnage and build a future. #auspol
Debt is $200 billion lower this year than what the Coalition left us.

Australia's gross debt as a share of GDP is substantially lower under us than what they forecast in 2022.

If the Coalition was in power right now debt would be approaching $1.2 trillion.

Agree. The collapse of the collegiate human based decision making in #universities, scholarship and teaching has come at a time when the administrative systems most need to make checking the #impact of mechanical #AI decisions an absolute priority. R&D now urgent!

You know what’d actually be “radical”? Properly funding higher education.

Better pay and working conditions for academics. The end of a punitive surveillance model of governance.

But sure, no. Let’s rip apart teaching and research. That’ll help. Fantastic.
Opinion | Liberal education once prepared students for citizenship. Reviving it will require a radical shift: less academic research, far more serious teaching. https://chroni.cl/4uJBSmy
