#Warsh
Kevin Warsh is a horse owner (partners with Ken Langone). Their horse just won.

Also, Warsh referring to AI as "superintelligence" is sorta disgusting.

*Interrogating confusion at the Fed*

The decision to hold was defensible; the decision to obscure the reasoning was not. Warsh says to interrogate reality. Fine. For the committee view, read Williams. And expect Congress to have questions of its own. stayathomemacro.substack.com/p/interrogat...

Kevin Warsh wants the Fed to set rates 6 times a year instead of 8. I get that this makes it harder to react to economic noise, but we're talking about some of the world's leading economists. 8 meetings doesn't mean 8 rate changes. https://tinyurl.com/11-03-prof

Kevin Warsh: "If the crux of your question is, 'You haven't delivered yet. You haven't achieved price stability,' you're right about that"

Q: There's been essentially no progress toward the 2% inflation target. Why not raise rates today?

KEVIN WARSH: It's a good question

(Note how he never answers it!)

Warsh is doing a weird tap dance to avoid mentioning the election.

Unanticipated Fed news: Deterministic, a 5-year-old horse in which Kevin Warsh has an ownership stake, won the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Mile at Keeneland in Lexington, KY, as Warsh watched (and presumably cheered.). Caption contest open! wapo.st/4iR9EDI

"interrogating reality"

Warsh, Lolwut.

Ways and Means won an earlier race. Of course that is a Klarman horse.
Wonder if Warsh cheered for him.

Kevin Warsh is currently word salad-ing up a storm.

Claudia Sahm: "Tired of the twists and turns? I am too. Listen to Williams for the committee view and guidance. Listen to individual Fed officials for their views. Curious about Warsh? Get an AI-Ouija board."

Asked if he agrees with Trump's comments that Warsh is "great" but the rest of the Fed board is political and "would like to see the country do badly," Warsh declines to say: "Not going to be responding to quotes from public officials." Says he's proud to be chair and Fed made a good decision today

I should be more clear. Warsh is cutting one interest rate meeting in '27, two in '28. (Meetings will still happen -- but they'll be thinking big thoughts, not adjusting rates.)

Fed Chair Warsh: Inflation is too high. Energy and related prices have moved higher again in recent weeks.

it is a deeply midwestern breed

the arch nemesis of those who say "warsh"

Fwiw I think this would be dumb policy and dumb politics. Warsh might magically rediscover his hawkishness but imo he’s not utterly embarrassed himself, and the task forces are performative but basically fine.
Monetary Policy Analytics: If Democrats capture the Senate, the Warsh Fed might be in for tougher oversight.
