My dad taking me to walk on a frozen over reflecting pool between the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument when I was about 18 months old in the 1980s. You can see the macadam walkway of the National Mall in the foreground and in the far background are some benches and groups of people ice skating and also walking on the ice. A little puddle of water that splashed over the edge, either by a bird or the wind, is frozen solid on the macadam pebbles. My dad is wearing a black watchcap, a red orange puffer coat, black pants, and motorcycle boots. He has longish brown hair and a mustache. He’s bending down and smiling because I am barely hip high and wearing a one-piece blue snowsuit with red sleeves and a blue hood. The hood is down showing a crocheted white hat with attached ear muffs and that is tied on, and probably made by my grandmother. I’m wearing white stride rites, as was the style at the time. It must have been incredibly cold, because the reflecting pools are several feet deep and have filters (but not fountains) to keep the water clean, and my dad was an engineer, pilot, biker, and sailor, so suffice it to say, big on safety. .

To celebrate the 30th St bridge finally reopening I wandered over there, met this gentleman who was just as gobsmacked as I that it was opened. As you can see they're still working on the bank and stairs.

It is an elegant bridge, and the restoration work is flawless!

The #WatchCap continues. Whatever else is happening, I must knit. Onward and upward. Literally.
I check size and fit obsessively. 3.5" for the brim and fold. 2" more that the brim hides. Another 2.5" before crown decreases.
