I know this paper isn't good for water-based media, but I wanted to express emotions and it did the job — that's what sketchbooks are for!

Sweet treats and a handful of nuts. Top left a cream topped ginger cake on a blue saucer; centre top a marzipan, stem ginger topped petit four in dark brown, frilled paper case; to the right a chocolate rum truffle in pink paper case, bottom right corner - un-cracked brazil nuts and almonds. All are positioned near their watercolour, water soluble graphite, brown pen versions.

Inspired by a Lee Jeffreys portrait, I tried to combine different watersoluble graphites. Definetely needs some practising, but it's a joy to work with these.

Portrait of a wrinkly man with glasses. He holds his face with both hands. To the right of the sketch there lie a Faber Castell graphite pen and an Art Graf graphite tin.

Petrie's Barn in water soluble graphite and broadstroke pencil. The scene is from an instructional book that I love, "Drawing Landscapes in Pencil" by Ferdinand Petrie, that I picked up 30 or so years ago 😮

Concentric circles of varying sizes. Some drawn with black pencil and shaded for depth, some drawn with water-soluble graphite and painted in uniformly, and some done with both, all overlapping on each other in different ways to test how to best retain the texture of the dry media but enjoy the coverage of the wet media. Two circles are black ink because the artist messed up, but it looks better that way. fito telmata 2026 all rights reserved Nocpermission given for this image to be used in any AI training datasets.

I guess this is #abstract ? idk. what *are* frogs?...
A graphite and oil-based pencil drawing of worm-like shapes in silhouette, entangled and illuminated in the center. The wormlike shapes were supposed to get darker at the same rate as the background, but this was unsuccessful. fito telmata 2026 all rights reserved. no permission given for use of image in any ai training datasets

A water-soluble tinted graphite drawing of piles on piles of entanged horsehair worms (don't look those up if you are sensitive to body horror). Unfortunately because the artist had not figured out how to shade the worms yet, it just looks like an abstract deawing of metal wires coiling around each other. Black ink used to fill the gaps. fito telmata 2026 all rights reserved. no permission given for image to be used in any ai image generation datasets.

Drawing is of a rose-like pattern of curved triangles, some blue-grey, some red-grey, folding circularly into each other again and again until reaching a hollow black center with a singular blue-grey sphere. The outermost curved triangle touches tips with a white curved triangle that has no color on it. 2026 fitotelmata all rights reserved. A drawing of inky blackness only interrupted by bulbuous shapes that look something like red algae, or slime molds, or molten wax. They cut diagonally through the center of the piece, nestle in the bottom left corner, curl in on themselves in the bottom right corner, and hang loosely in the top right corner. Sometimes they are branchlike, sometimes they look like puzzle pieces. Not for AI training datasets of any kind. fito telmata 2026 all rights reserved

A small abstract landscape consisting of a dimensional, pale web and darker grey spheres. A very mild trick of perspective makes it hard to tell if the spheres and spheroids are embedded in, suspended in, or behind the web. Water-soluble graphiteu, various tints, on white paper.
