The #fan of the web888 #websdr makes too much noise but I found a Sunon maglev 40x40x10 in the junkbox. This fits perfectly in the web888 and the fan grille protects my fingers also.
Now skimming #FT8 to monitor propagation for ARRL #cw #contest

Installed a fan tower and special case for cooling my web888 #websdr but after 60min already 45C in a 18C room.
I have to find an better solution.
Fan is running at 12v at highest speed.

So I took a #vacuum #cleaner #filter to prevent getting dust into the #websdr
But, this blocks the airflow too much and #temperature is now 43 degrees already.
Back to the drawing table.
Maybe this heatsink will help?

Web888, the clone of KiwiSDR, has the feature that it receives HF from 1 kHz to 62 MHz and VHF from 118 to 150 MHz with separate antenna inputs. In this way, using the WebSDR at hb9re.ddns.net:8083, we can listen to all operations at Zurich Airport ( VOR, ATIS/VOLMET, radio communications, etc.)

☺️ The Web888 was designed with a fan (it runs hot). The RX888 has never had a fan - but the ADC runs very hot…and the thermal pad they fit is undersized as is the heatsink, so some other remedies are needed (a thermal pad that covers the whole pcb and a chunky heatsink to disperse the heat)

The RX888 the Web888 are different beasts - the RX888 is a pretty amazing DC to 64Mhz receiver - a bargain at the price. The ADC runs hot though so most use it upto 30Mhz. a large thermal pads and heatsink brings the heat under control. I can give you a thermal pad for a RX888 if you want.
