Sunset in Aberystwyth, on Wales' West coast. Not quite midsummer, but close - just a couple of days after the solstice. The sunset is subdued, under heavy cloud, but lights the horizon out at sea. The pier reaches out into the sea on the left of the image. A bright sunrise, seen from the beach at Southwold, Suffolk, on England's east coast, just 7 hours and a 300 mile through-the-night drive later.

This image was taken in Sydney and shows a cityscape of several modern, glass fronted commercial buildings against a lovely blue sky. The central building is tall with a central glazed area running all the way up the building, flanked by a light coloured clad facade with rectangular window frames. As it reaches the roof the glazed area seems to break out from behind the clad facade and it forms into a sloping, dome shaped structure on the roof, with a white needle on the top. I think it looks like the facade is trying - unsuccessfully - to wrap around the glazed area and can’t contain it as it reaches the roof. In contrast with this, in front of this modern building sits a much smaller, old, classic stone built clock tower, probably atop a church. We can see one face of the clock showing that it’s 2pm.

This is a Bavarian style building in the town of Mt. Angel. Oregon. There is a Glockenspiel in the clock tower, and it plays musical animations 4 times a day.

Step back in time at the Log House.

This house, which stood along the Maumee River for almost 200 years, was gifted to the Stranahan family and is used as a teaching tool giving a glimpse into Wood County’s past.

I’m always drawn to these standing dead trees at the wildlife refuge we frequent. On the left a photo from 2024 and on the right a photo from yesterday. Many of the old snags have decomposed over time and fallen into the shallow pool below.
