I'm not sure, but I know it's a significant challenge.
Fortunately, expensive is a relative concept. Novel wellbore materials may cost more than conventional steel. But if they unlock superhot resources - they're worth it!

New War Room article says 'mature assets' include "94,000 wells that are “decommissioned” (wellbore cut and capped, surface equipment removed but site reclamation incomplete)". But that cannot be correct. A decommissioned but unreclaimed site is (1/2)

This might impose serious operational constraints as each compartment would need at least 1 wellbore for injection, and the small compartment size means more $$ per Mt of CO2 sequestered. (3/4)

The state regulator, the Railroad Commission, spent $1.49 million plugging the leak and another $1.16 million disposing of the wastewater back underground. By early June, crews had stopped the flow and plugged the wellbore.
