Remembering St Celynnin today, a 6th century Welsh saint who has a 12th century church dedicated to him at Llangelynnin. His feast day is either 20th or 22nd November. The church was open when @milesbsn.bsky.social
and I last visited (see pics) #NorthWalesPilgrimsWay #SaintCelynnin #WelshSaints

1. Rectangular graphic with a blue background. The Church in Wales Celtic cross logo is in the top left-hand corner, and there is a picture of a saint on the right-hand side. The text reads as follows: " Saint Cewydd is a Welsh saint who is said to have lived during the 6th century in Anglesey. Unfortunately, not much information about his life has survived, but it is said that he was the son of a celtic chieftain called Caw. Legend has it that King Arthur gave Caw’s children lands in Siluria (Radnor). Sant Cymreig yw Sant Cewydd a ddywedir iddo fyw yn ystod y 6ed ganrif yn Ynys Môn. Yn anffodus, nid oes llawer o wybodaeth am ei fywyd wedi goroesi, ond dywedir ei fod yn fab i bennaeth Celtaidd o'r enw Caw. Yn ôl y chwedl, rhoddodd y Brenin Arthur diroedd yn Silwria (Maesyfed) i blant Caw." 2. Rectangular graphic with a blue background. The Church in Wales Celtic cross logo is in the top left-hand corner, and there is a map of Wales with the Llancarfan area highlighted. The text reads as follows: " A lot of what we can guess about his life comes through the etymology of place names. It is said that Cewydd became a monk in St. Cadog’s monastery at Llancarfan, and we see that reflected in place names in South Wales. For instance, Llancourt is an anglicisation of the Welsh 'Llan Cewydd', or 'Church of Saint Cewydd'. Mae llawer o'r hyn y gallwn ei ddyfalu am ei fywyd yn dod trwy etymoleg enwau lleoedd. Dywedir i Cewydd ddod yn fynach ym mynachlog Sant Cadog yn Llancarfan, ac rydym yn gweld hynny'n cael ei adlewyrchu mewn enwau ardaloedd yn Ne Cymru. Er enghraifft, mae Llancourt yn Seisnigeiddiad o'r gair Cymraeg 'Llan Cewydd'." 3. Rectangular graphic with a blue background. The Church in Wales Celtic cross logo is in the top left-hand corner. There’s a partially transparent picture of a medieval church at the bottom. The text above reads as follows: " Cewydd eventually settled in Elfael (Radnorshire) where the churches of Aberedw and Disserth are both dedicated to him. Cewydd’s Retreat, Cil Cewydd, appears in the adjoining parish of Llanfihangel Bryn Pabuan and his hill-slope, Rhiw Gewydd, is a mountain track above Llandilo Graban. Ymsefydlodd Cewydd ymhen amser yn Elfael (Sir Faesyfed) lle cysegrwyd eglwysi Aberedw a Diserth iddo. Mae Encil Cewydd, Cil Cewydd, yn ymddangos ym mhlwyf cyfagos Llanfihangel Bryn Pabuan ac mae ei lethr bryn, Rhiw Gewydd, yn llwybr mynydd uwchben Llandilo Graban. " 4. Rectangular graphic with a blue background. The Church in Wales Celtic cross logo is in the top left-hand corner, and there is a picture of St. Swithin holding an umbrella in the rain in the bottom right-hand corner. The text reads as follows: " He probably died in this region on either the 1st, 2nd or 15th July. All three dates also have close associations with Cewydd’s English equivalent, St. Swithin. Both are the ‘Rain-Saints’ of their respective nations. According to folklore, if it rains on St. Cewydd’s day, it will rain for forty days and forty nights! Mae’n debyg iddo farw yn y rhanbarth hwn ar naill ai’r 1af, yr 2il neu’r 15fed o Orffennaf. Mae gan y tri dyddiad gysylltiadau agos hefyd â chyfwerth Saesneg Cewydd, sef Sant Swithin. Y ddau yw ‘Seintiau’ eu cenhedloedd priodol. Yn ôl llên gwerin, os bydd hi’n bwrw glaw ar ddiwrnod Sant Cewydd, bydd hi’n bwrw glaw am ddeugain diwrnod a deugain noson!."

Square graphic with a blue background. The Church in Wales Celtic cross logo is in the top left-hand corner, and there is a picture of a saint on the right-hand side. The text reads as follows: "Saint Euddogwy. Feast day: 2nd July. Dydd Gwyl: 2ed Gorffenaf. St. Euddogwy, also known as St. Oudoceus, was the third Bishop of Llandaff, and lived in the 7th century. Little was known about his life or his family, but his episcopal reign was likely to be around 650-700 CE. Euddogwy Sant, a elwid hefyd yn Oudoceus Sant, oedd Esgob cyntaf Llandaf, ac roedd yn byw yn y 7fed Ganrif. Ychydig a wyddom am ei fywyd na’i deulu, ond mae’n debyg iddo fod yn esgob o amgylch 650-700 OG." Square graphic with a blue background. The Church in Wales Celtic cross logo is in the top left-hand corner, and there is a map of Wales with Llandeilo and Llandaff both highlighted on the right-hand side. The text reads as follows: "One legend tells how he removed a number of relics of St. Teilo and his disciples from Llandeilo to Llandaff. The men of Llandeilo were not happy, and ambushed his party in a rocky pass at Penallt. Through Euddogwy's prayers, the attackers immediately became blind and unable to move. Dywed un chwedl sut y symudodd nifer o greiriau Teilo Sant a’i ddisgyblion o Landeilo i Landaf. Nid oedd dynion Llandeilo yn hapus ac fe wnaethant ymosod ar ei osgordd ar fwlch creigiog ym Mhenanallt. Drwy weddïau Euddogwy, cafodd yr ymosodwyr eu dallu ar unwaith a methu symud." Square graphic with a blue background. The Church in Wales Celtic cross logo is in the top left-hand corner, and there is Llandaff's coat of arms on the right-hand side. The text reads as follows: "He retired to Llandogo, and died there on July 2nd, which is his feast day. He was supposedly buried at the church in Llandaff, on the site of the present Llandaff Cathedral, where there was a shrine to him until 1547. He is one of the three saints to whom the cathedral is dedicated. Symudodd i Landdogo a bu farw ar 2 Gorffennaf, ei ddygwyl. Y sôn oedd iddo gael ei gladdu yn yr eglwys yn Llandaf, ar y safle lle mae Cadeirlan Llandaf ar hyn o bryd, a roedd cysegr iddo yno tan 1547. Mae’n un o dri sant y cafodd y gadeirlan ei chysegru iddynt." Square graphic with a blue background. The Church in Wales Celtic cross logo is in the top left-hand corner, and there is a picture of St. Oudoceus church with the Monmouth Diocese's logo on the left-hand side. The text reads as follows: "There aren't many places in Wales named after him, since he is not very well-known. However, there is the Church of St Oudoceus, Llandogo in Monmouth Marches Ministry Area, Monmouth Diocese. Nid oes llawer o leoedd yng Nghymru wedi ei enwi ar ei ôl , gan nad yw’n adnabyddus iawn. Fodd bynnag, mae Eglwys Oudoceus Sant, Llandogo yn Ardal Gweinidogaeth Gororau Mynwy, Esgobaeth Mynwy."
