With USAID, DOE/IES, etc, imploding, I am worried about colleagues (including former students) at Westat, Mathematica, Abt, Research Triangle Institute, NORC, Mitre, and all the other federally-connected research shops. Haven't seen this reported

Heartbreaking to see announcements of major layoffs at most research organizations that have played a vital role in supporting federal statistics for education and developing high-quality evidence about what policies/practices actually work.

Tho unsurprising given the massive fed grant cuts, it's still so disheartening to see so many major research orgs making big workforce cuts - saw posts from folks at Urban, Westat, NORC, MDRC, & Mathematica yesterday alone. Enraging to see so many talented people lose impactful jobs they love.
